Disney+ found an unlikely hit with 2023's superhero drama, Moving, and now the smash Korean series is finally returning for season 2. Written by Kang Full (based on his eponymous webtoon), the series concerns a trio of high school students who, along with their parents, discover that they have developed superpowers. Complete with the usual trappings of a superhero story, Moving also integrates the political tensions between North and South Korea, adding a unique wrinkle to the genre that literally can't be found in any other nation's superhero content.

It was clear from the finale of Moving season 1 that things weren't over, but the show was in limbo for a year without word of its renewal. With the show doing gigantic business for Disney+, the streamer had their very own Squid Game, even if it was on a smaller scale. Now, the popular K-Drama has been renewed for a second season, and there will finally be some closure to the questions posed by the premiere episodes. Despite this renewal, every piece of news indicates that the wait for Moving season 2 is going to be a long one.

Despite being lavished with critical praise, and becoming Disney+'s most-watched K-Drama in only seven days, the future of Moving was never certain. Park In-je, the series director, expressed his hopes that the series would return for a second season in early 2024, but nothing surfaced to add to that update. That was until November 2024, when Disney finally announced Moving season 2 at the Asia Pacific Content Showcase in Singapore. The announcement came with few details, except that Kang Full would return to write the new episodes.
with writing just getting underway, it's obvious that Moving season 2 isn't going to arrive very soon.

Moving season 2's renewal represents a continued expansion of Korean content on Disney+, and the superhero series was far from the only K-Drama to be announced at the event. However, Moving remains the streamer's most popular Korean series, and anticipation continues to build for more episodes. Unfortunately, with writing just getting underway, it's obvious that Moving season 2 isn't going to arrive very soon.

Will The Kids & Agents Return In Season 2?
At this juncture, it's unclear which actors will return to reprise their roles, but there are many characters who are expected to return in season 2. Moving is like most superhero TV shows in that it utilizes a large cast but focuses on the lives of a handful of heroes and villains. While season 1 offered a bit of a happy ending, it's clear that the main characters will be back, and that their lives as super-powered individuals will always present challenges. It's expected that Ryu Seung-ryong will be back as former agent-turned-doting-father, Jang Ju-won.

Meanwhile, Go Youn-jung will be back as Ju-won's daughter, Jang Hui-soo, and she has only just begun to explore her healing powers. Lee Jung-ha played Hui-soo's classmate, Kim Bong-seok, in season 1, and he'll be back alongside his mother, played by Han Hyo-joo. Since there is a much larger world teased in the season 1 finale, it's logical to assume that season 2 will introduce even more characters.
The presumptive cast of Moving season 2 includes:
Actor | Moving Role | |
---|---|---|
Ryu Seung-ryong | Jang Ju-won | |
Han Hyo-joo | Lee Mi-hyun | |
Zo In-sung | Kim Doo-sik | |
Cha Tae-hyun | Jeon Gye-do | |
Kim Sung-kyun | Lee Jae-man | |
Lee Jung-ha | Kim Bong-seok | |
Go Youn-jung | Jang Hui-soo | |
Kim Do-hoon | Lee Gang-hoon |

A Happy Ending That Won't Last Long
Having seemingly vanquished the agents and returned to a life of relative normalcy, the characters of Moving were left in a good place after season 1's finale. However, it's clear that that won't last long and their lives will again be threatened by forces beyond their control who are bent on tapping their powers for evil. The Northern agents probably won't give up so easily in their quest to capture the superpowered kids, and with their past as agents themselves, the parents won't be safe either.
