WoW Classic Wailing Caverns: Quests, Loot & Location (2025)

Serpentbloom

The Wailing Caverns quest Serpentbloom requires level 14 and is sharable.

• Starts and ends at Apothecary Zamah in The Spirit Rise in Thunder Bluff (23,21).
• The task is to deliver 10x Serpentbloom. Serpentbloom can be found in the Wailing Caverns. It looks like a small green flower. It might take a few runs. The Serpentbloom always seems to spawn in the same places.
• The item reward is Apothecary Gloves.

Leaders of the Fang

The Wailing Caverns quest Leaders of the Fang requires level 10. It is sharable if the prerequisite quests have been completed by the other players.

• Starts and ends at Nara Wildmane in The Elder Rise in Thunder Bluff (75,31).
• Requirements: Completion of a quest series, 5 quests in total. The series starts with The Forgotten Pools at Tonga Runetotem in Crossroads in The Barrens (52,31). As you progress, you can then accept the quest Hamuul Runetotem, which ultimately leads to Leaders of the Fang.
• The task is to collect the following four gems from the Leaders of the Fang:
  • Gem of Cobrahn
  • Gem of Anacondra
  • Gem of Pythas
  • Gem of Serpentis
• All leaders can be found in the Wailing Caverns. On the map below you can see where the leaders are located:

• As an item reward you can choose between Crescent Staff and Wingblade.

Smart Drings

The Wailing Caverns quest Smart Drinks requires level 13 and is sharable.

• Starts and ends at Mebok Mizzyrix in Ratchet in The Barrens (62,37).
• Prerequisite: You get the quest from Mebok Mizzyrix after you have completed the quest Raptor Horns (also starts and ends at Mebok Mizzyrix).

Trouble at the Docks

The Wailing Caverns Quest Trouble at the Docks requires level 14 and is sharable.

• Starts and ends at Crane Operator Bigglefuzz in Ratchet in The Barrens (63,37)
• The task is to take a bottle 99-Year-Old Port from Mad Magglish in the Wailing Caverns.
• Mad Magglish can spawn in various locations in the caves leading to the Wailing Caverns (i.e. outside of the actual instance):
  1. Enter the cave and keep right. You will come to a kind of intersection. There is a small niche on the right where he can be.
  2. Instead of going into the alcove on the right, continue straight ahead and jump down over the cliff at the end.
  3. Instead of going right into the alcove or continuing straight ahead, keep left and go into the water. Once in the water, keep left where you will enter a cave.

Deviate Hides

The Wailing Caverns quest Deviate Hides requires level 13 and is sharable.

• Starts and ends at Nalpak (46,35). This is how you find it:
  • When you’re at the entrance to the Wailing Caverns, walk back a bit and look at the entrance. You can see that it is a skull. Nalpak and Ebru, another quest giver (see next quest), are standing in a cave in the left eye of the skull (when you look at it).
  • Climb the mountain, then work your way down to the nose and skull and from there into the eye.
• The task is to hand in 20x Deviate Hide. You can complete the quest by looting any Deviate mobs inside or outside the instance.

Deviate Eradication

The Wailing Caverns quest Deviate Eradication requires level 15 and is sharable.

• Starts and ends at Ebru. She can be found next to Nalpak in the skull’s eye cave (see previous quest).
• The task is: to kill 7x Deviate Ravager, 7x Deviate Viper, 7x Deviate Shambler, and 7x Deviate Dreadfang. All mobs can be found INSIDE the Wailing Caverns.
• As an item reward you can choose between Pattern: Deviate Scale Belt, Sizzle Stick, and Dagmire Gauntlets.

The Glowing Shard

The Wailing Caverns quest The Glowing Shard requires level 15 and is not sharable.

• Glowing Shard starts the quest. It drops from Mutanus the Devourer, the final boss in the Wailing Caverns(drop chance around 68%).
• You have to take the shard to Sputtervalve in Ratchet (63,37), near the flight master.
• He refers you to Falla Sagewind. You can find her in a tent on the mountain where the Wailing Caverns are located (48,33).
• From Falla Sagewind you will then get the follow-up quest In Nightmares or In Nightmares.
