be CARD OF THANKS 856-5555 Obituaries Miguel 'Mike' Alvarez A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at Queen of All Saints Church, Lackawanna, for Miguel "Mike" Alvarez, 84, a Bethlehem Steel employee for 38 years and a founder and 54-year member of the Mexican Club of Lackawanna. Alvarez died Sunday (Aug. 13, 1989) in his Lackawanna home following a three-month illness. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna. A native of Guadalajara, Mexico, Alvarez worked at Bethlehem Steel for 38 years until his retirement until 1970.

In 1935, he helped found the Mexican Club, formally called the Centro Social Mexicano, which continues to operate on Ingham Avenue, Lackawanna. Until his illness, Alvarez took care of the gardening outside the center and helped operate the bar. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Neri Cortez; a brother, John of Milwaukee; a sister, Maria Alvarez; three sons, Michael of Hamburg. Robert of Lackawanna and Steven of Buffalo; three daughters, Vicki Lindstrom of Buffalo. Linda France of Coral Springs, and Gloria Alvarez of Buffalo; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Claude L. Scott BRADFORD, Pa. Funeral services for Claude L. "Scotty" Scott, 67, a retired Buffalo mail carrier, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes' chapel at 33 South Ave.

Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park. Lafayette. Scott, who worked for the postal service for 38 years, died Tuesday (Aug. 15, 1989) in Veterans Hospital, Buffalo, after an illness of several months. He lived at 267 Derrick Road.

A Weston, W. native, Scott came here with his family at any early age and graduated from Bradford Area Senior High School. During World War II, he served in North Africa, Italy, and Sicily with the Army Air Forces. He moved to Buffalo in 1945 to accept the postal job, from which he retired April 1. 1983, when he returned to Bradford.

Buffalo, Scott was a member of Branch 3, Letter Carriers Union, and Chapter 1. Disabled American Veterans. In Bradford. he joined American Legion Post 108, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 212 and the Moose Lodge. Surviving are his wife, the former Eva DeWyer; two daughters, Sharon Hoffstetter of Buffalo and Gail Franklin of Westfield.
